Currently, only one term can be associated with a profile. It would be very useful (necessary, in my case) to be able to associate more than one term with a profile (without having to add multiple profile fields to do it).

gnindl CreditAttribution: gnindl commentedThe problem is that there's no profile field/widget type which supports multiple selection. Although there's a free form list it doesn't match a CTRL-Select box as you would like to have. We would have to introduce a custom profile field type here. I don't know an easy way to do this.
Suggestions welcome!

This looks to be a useful place to start...
http://drupal.org/project/profile_checkboxes
... but, profile_checkboxes.module looks like it would not cope well with re-ordering or addition of terms within a vocabulary and does not display the checkboxes correctly (taxonomy names are shown as "Object id #47" or similar for some reason).

gnindl CreditAttribution: gnindl commentedProfile Checkboxes is supported with the release 1.0-rc2 which offers radio buttons and checkboxes. Be aware of the limitations (read module homepage carefully).
It is made possible that referenced vocabularies are exported and synchronized with the profile field options.
