Create new account

After setting up new profile type and assigning it to a new page the page comes up fine. It produces a Create New account button at bottom and a menu item at the top pointing to drupal system "create new account" url (http://mysite/user/register). If someone clicks it on it take them to the drupal system account and not the custom profile page. Can you tell me how to get rid of the menu item.
