There seems to be no new messages notification block. Notifications are sent only by mail, but no messages on site, like it used to be in the D7 version. Something like: "You have 2 new private messages".
Am I missing something?

2) Privatemsg menu item to Account menu with new messages counter

Thank you. Of course I know how to place a block. The problem is that "Privatemsg Block" is not listed among the available blocks, and so - no way to place it.

We are probably talking about different things. This block seems to just display two links: "All messages" and "New message". I am looking for the functionality which would display a notification/message of new PMs for the current user. Like this: "You have 2 new private messages. Click here to read them." This is how it was in the D7 version. But I can't figure out how to get this.
