It seems to me to be a slight UX bug to have an 'Inbox' tab, and an 'All Messages' tab, along with the ability to 'archive' a message from the inbox. To many end-users, I've seen them flail around a bit trying to find out what happened to an archived message...

To me, it's obvious that it would appear under 'All Messages', but most people don't see that right away.

I suggest changing the 'All Messages' tab to 'Archived Messages,' and just showing archived messages in that tab. The inbox already shows all non-archived messages, so I think this would be much clearer.

It would also prevent duplicates of issues like #825620: Where I can see archived messages? from appearing.

What is your "most people" assumption based on ? :)

I'm not sure that your proposal is any better than what we currently have. For example, Gmail has exactly the same thing (Inbox + Sent Mails + All Mails + a lot more)

Its based on the fact that, for five people who I've had use it so far (every one besides me), they've all mentioned this.

The difference between Gmail and this module is that you can have all sorts of different folders in Gmail. Privatemsg limits you to one. It's not the end of the world, but I do think it can be confusing.

For me, the problem with calling it "archived messages" is that it also shows the messages that are in the inbox, which have not been archived. If it was "Archived Messages," I would expect NOT to see the messages that are in the inbox.
