The workaround for existing content (described in #2792571: Add Drupal 8 instructions to module page) is unexpected and, for content of more than 50 pieces of content, unwieldy. If 43 pages of content need updates (to take a real-life example), the instructions are infeasible.

Filing this as a bug, for now, as there is still a setting for items to process during cron, which is unused.
