At least test emails contain the "Errors-To" header which is not among the headers accepted by Amazon SES. As this header is not crucial for sending emails, I'd suggest to remove it or to make it optional. As far as understood, this issue is not relevant for Drupal 7, but for the current installation a solution would be necessary.
