Attempted to send test email from local desktop using phpmailer configuration page, Google mail and fresh install of

  • Drupal 7.0 2011-Jan-05
  • Libraries API 7.x-1.0 2011-Jan-26
  • PHPMailer v7.x-3.x-dev 2001-Feb-25
  • PHPMailer Library for PHP 5/6 v5.0.2

Produces either a Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in \drupal-7.0\includes\bootstrap.inc message or no message at all after ten minutes of connecting...waiting for host. No errors reported in logs.

From the same desktop but fresh install of Drupal 6.20 and relative v6.x afore mentioned modules sends email without problem.
