[Decision help] Paragraphs and Layout Builder: The future proof solution for content editors?

Hello,

for a new project I want to create an online magazine. I would like to give my editors a powerful and flexible toolbox into their hands.
As I want to be as close as possible on D8 core, I would like to use Layout Builder module as soon as it becomes stable.

Now the question for me is: Is paragraphs the "right" module for my task? In general I would say yes definitely.

But will there be an upgrade path for paragraphs?
Or is panelizer the better option, as they are sure to provide an upgrade path to layout builder module later (see this issue). Also Dries mentioned in a Blog post that there will be an upgrade path available:

Currently there a few methods in the Drupal module ecosystem for creating templated layouts and landing pages, including the Panels and Panelizer combination. We are currently working on a migration path for Panels/Panelizer to the Layout Builder.

Perhaps somebody can help me out.
