It could be very useful if this module supported premium content.
The link to the next page (any one specific link: to page 3, 5, etc.) could have a visibility setting related to role, with a configurable redirect if the role did not have sufficient permissions to view the next page.
So, from page "X" onwards: show the next page link/tab, etc. for roles x and y, but if not member of any of those roles, then instead of the next page link/tab, show a link to either node z, or a block or a configurable text.

It should ideally be possible to specify more levels, for example require role x or y to get from page 2 to page 3, and role z to get from page 6 to page 7.

Hmm, not at all opposed to this, but I suspect this functionality would better exist in a companion module, as opposed to be part of the main code base. I'm sure there are things this project could do to better support at sort of plugin functionality though.
