HTML Entities in Title

I am using " Automatically generate the title and hide the title field" with the following input Top [node:field_award_category] of [node:field_award_year] in [node:field_award_city]

The tokens are all taxonomy reference fields and some of the taxonomy terms have the single quote ' (') character in them. These characters are being saved in the database as (') and being displayed in the page title, the node title and even in the url (using pathauto). I think the module should encode the title before saving it to the database. I am going to look into it further, does anyone have a solution?
