I watched the video for open Enterprise distribution.

I am thinking to just build a regular drupal site using the modules from the distribution.

Is this possible?

Reading all the support questions I am concerned there are issues with the distribution package, which could cause support problems. It is tough enough supporting regular drupal sites with standard modules, without have problems with proprietary modules.

I am impressed with idea of Open Enterprise. It has always been difficult, especially Drupal 6 when I have tried to provide a semi-accessible drupal installation for site owners that were not very computer literate. I have had better luck with D7, especially with updating.

Regardless, I would love to use the OE distribution, but so many of the support comments indicate there may be too many issues with it at this time. I thought by just doing a regular D7 installation and applying the modules used within the OE distribution placed in site/all/modules it might be viable.

I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions on this.

THanks

You could probably get a little further down the road by using the modules, but I would probably recommend using features instead. Modules only get you so far, then you will need to create/enhance the content types, taxonomies, views, etc and learn how the modules are combined to create the functionality needed.

I believe most, if not all the modules on Open Enterprise are standard modules on d.o. If you install and see that modules need updates, you could then go in and update like you would any standard Drupal / module integration.

Hope this helps.
