links in off-canvas navigation have to be clicked twice

Links in off-canvas navigation need to be clicked twice. This is similar to this issue from 7x-4.1 version https://www.drupal.org/node/2153175, but neither the tip suggested there nor the fix http://drupalcode.org/project/omega.git/commit/b426a6d worked for me. I verified the fix was already in place in my installed 4.2 version. If I move my link to another place (outside the navigation region), links work correctly. Drupal version is core 7.28 and all modules are up to date.
