If a user is a member of more than one group, they can only view unpublished material from the first group they're a member of, not the others.

I can't recreate this problem in 7.x-2.0. I have a user who is a member of two groups with the OG permission to view unpublished content in both, and it appears to work correctly. Perhaps you should try the new version?
