Had trouble when I upgraded from 6.x-1.1 to 6.x-1.2 with IE7. FireFox was fine. I had to use the nice_menus.js file from 1.1 to make it work, which loads the javascript for IE7. My vertical menus pop only slightly over and down which may be some of the issue. Menu in action can be seen at www.cropking.com

Do you have the problem in any core theme or just your custom theme? I don't have IE7 running handy so could you describe what the problem is (maybe with a screenshot or two)?
