Problem/Motivation

The initial navigation prototype design included the "back to site" link at the top of the vertical toolbar, below the logo. Several people raised concerns that its placement seemed awkward and that it may be unclear where that link leads.

Ideas considered on the meeting:

  • Combine it with the logo - it may fit, but then it will look like the back to site arrow is pointing back to the logo
  • Remove the arrow and combine with the logo - this could be confusing because the logo links to the main page
  • Move it to the breadcrumb trail; similar to Gin

Proposed solution

We agreed on using Gin's proposal to test: a link before the breadcrumb, with an arrow pointing left and right spacing + a vertical line separating them.

There was agreement on using Gin's proposal for now: a link before the breadcrumb, with an arrow pointing left and right spacing + a vertical line separating them. This is going to be the fastest way to test is the place is correct on the user tests. Attaching an image with it and updating the issue summary.

Hey @ckrina, can you please send me an icon for the back arrow? Or can I pull from Figma somewhere?
