Summer 2024 update with lots of fixes and new functionality!

Project recommendations: When Students favorite a project, a modal opens with related projects based on project categories. This modal can be minimized, and the state of the modal is saved via cookie to prevent annoying users with repeated popups.

Application instructions: The first time a student favorites a project, a modal appears explaining the next steps towards submitting their application. The text for this modal can be set by admins through the Muser settings page.

Mentor profile pages: Mentor profile pages are now accessible by clicking on their names on Projects. The Mentor profile pages include some basic information about the mentor, their current projects, and a graph showing their past interactions with applications (numbers of accepted, rejected, ignored applications, etc.). This chart is also available to be placed via chart tags like other Muser charts either for a specific user id or aggregate across all mentors.

Download applications by project: Mentors can now download PDFs of all the applications for a given project instead of only being able to download all applications across all their projects.

Project filters layout: Filters on the projects page now have a more sensible layout when there’s multiple items selected.

Expectations and Structure for projects: Formerly referred to as “Contracts”, Expectations and Structure allows Mentors to opt-in to filling out a field on their projects and profiles detailing the terms of an agreement between Mentor and Student. Mentors can also fill out a field on their profile page to automatically fill the field on new projects they create.

AB Testing improvements: AB test selectors can now start with bodyMatch to only search for the rest of the selector when the specified selector matches on the body element. This is useful when you want to apply an AB test to something outside the body element, such as <head>. For example: bodyMatch.path-user head title.

Dashboard improvements: The dashboard now includes an “Active A/B Tests” block and a summary of the reminder emails that the system sends.

Menu improvements: Some users (especially students, with multiple role related menu items) experienced layout issues with too many menu items bunching up in the header. We’ve improved the layout and styling for menus up to 3 levels deep to help admins reduce the number of top-level items.

Student emails on application period start and end: Admins can now configure two emails to go out to all students for the application period start and end. The text and offset can be managed on the Muser settings page with the rest of the Muser emails. This can also be disabled.

Also, Admin users can view all charts under Reports > Muser reports > Charts.

One-click unsubscribe: Muser system emails now include a one-click unsubscribe link.

User exports: We’ve improved the filters on the admin People page.

Bug fixes

  • Allow chart markup in Basic HTML text format
  • Added lock to prevent multiple instances of reminder email sender from running at the same time (sending multiple instances of the same email).
  • Mentors can no longer see applications prior to start of review period.
  • No longer loading A/B test JavaScript if there are no active A/B tests running.
