With MultiLink Redirect, you may find that Language Switcher Dropdown does not work as expected. This is due to a limitation in that module - see #1280744: hook_translation_link_alter not called or not working.
One work-around is to set:

$conf['multilink_language_order'] = array('current', 'preferred', 'default');

... in settings.php.

This works on D7 too if anyone is wondering. Should be added to the docs.
