Double charges for recurring payments using ms stripe

Our client has recently had customers reporting an issue, since march 2021 with double charges for users with a recurring subscription. The timing between the two payments doesn't suggest the issue is due to a user submitting the request multiple times as they are too far spaced out. Some of these double charges happen on the same day, and others on different days. The site uses the ms_stripe module to integrate stripe for recurring payments.

Any help on the same would be greatly appreciated.
