Drupal 8 has builtin migration paths from Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 - this module is meant to extend the core support for migration from Drupal 5.
I haven't had a Drupal 5 site to work with since the initial implementation of migrate_drupal_d5, so there's been no further development. Since the core migration framework has changed considerably since then, this module does not work as-is. However, you will find that the migration YAML files and plugins here are light modifications of their Drupal 6 equivalents (relatively little changed in the database schema between D5 and D6) - the code here should provide useful guidance in customizing today's D6 migration support for your own D5 to D8 migration.
