I am hoping that someone has experienced and resolved this issue. I have installed (and unistalled and reinstalled) the module. There are green check marks next to all the different node types. The keywords appear in the code for one content type (basic page) but not another (article). Not sure how this is possible, etc. Ideas?

valthebaldYes, looks weird. And you say that when you go manage fields of the article content type, meta tags are not there?

Fixed it now - in structure / content type /? 'article' / manage display. Don't know if it will work for everyone.
Ensure the required meta-tag fields are 'visible'
I initially had them set to hidden, which seemed the logical thing to do so they didn't appear on the article (still new to Drupal - learning by trial and error).
Changed the visibilty setting, and now the required keywords and description meta is included in the html. And they don't show on page.
Hope this helps
Mike

valthebaldDid you change initial visibility to 'hidden', or it was 'hidden' by default?
