Metatag Simple Widget provides a streamlined, user-friendly interface for entering basic SEO metadata (just the title, description, and image) without the complexity of the full Metatag Firehose.

This module offers an alternative field widget with a simplified form that focuses only on the most commonly used fields: meta title and meta description. This is ideal for authors unfamiliar with HTML meta tags, who may feel overwhelmed by the advanced form.
This widget includes a setting to 'show default values' in the form. Disabling this settings will hide default values such as [node:title] | [site:name] from displaying and confusing users unfamiliar with Drupal's tokens or entity structures.
Post-Installation
After installing the module:
- Go to Structure → Content types → Your content type → Manage form display.
- Locate the Metatag field (assuming you already have a metatag field on your bundle.)
- Click the gear icon ⚙️ next to the widget selector.
- Change the widget to "Simplified meta tags form".
- Optionally configure the widget to show or hide default values like [node:title].
There are no global settings or configuration pages. All behavior is controlled per-field.
