You could look through the open issues and tell me your opinion which of those should be regarded as blockers for a stable version, and which of them are survivable.
The max_input_vars problem on long forms seemed to be a problem for people, see #1032270: Menu not changed, no error message displayed (max_input_vars)

https://www.drupal.org/project/menu_editor/releases/7.x-1.0-beta5 is my candidate for a stable D7 version.
(I guess I should have named it "rc" then..)
This means I can or will release a stable in the coming days or week(s)!

Releasing a previous version as stable would have been against my own quality standards.
P.S.: I should thank the people who reported these bugs and provided patches.
