From a user perspective, everything works fine until the new record (audio or video) is created.
BUT:
What usually happens is that a user makes a mistake or doesn't like the initial record. In this situation he wants to delete the file.
This is not possible through the interface yet.
This approach of having a delete/discard option also avoids the occupation of web space with unused, useless files.

I would also love this feature. We work with kids who often want to try again. Right now we just have them re-record over the old one, BUT in the event they make a really good external recording they want to load via another field, there's no way to remove the original.
Hope this can be done.
