Enable media_gallery_export module on the D7 site
Go to admin/config/media/media_gallery_export and press "Export" button
Check media_gallery_export directory. The galleries will be as sub-directories with images
Copy sites/default/files/media_gallery_export directory to new D8 site (path will be the same)
Enable media_gallery_import module on the D8 site
Go to admin/config/media/media_gallery_import and press "Import" button
Check your galleries
Uninstall (disable) media_gallery_import module on the D8 site
