The version @ github (https://github.com/madmimi/madmimi-drupal) works well, while the dev version here on Drupal (which was last updated in Feb 2011) has some issues in both cURL usage and documentation which point the user in the wrong direction.

Which is the more current version?

Just to keep these in 1 place -- in terms of documentation, the 2 versions of this module use 3 different placeholders to tell the user what to insert into the promotion @ madmimi.com:

{greeting}
{body}
{message}

Greeting doesn't work anywhere (for me at least). GitHub version uses {message} while current D.org dev module uses {body}.
