Proposed resolution

This module uses Gitlab CI for automated testing of proposed code changes. To contribute code changes, create a merge request. Patch files will not trigger automated testing and are not sufficient for review.

The code change itself illustrates the goal, so I'm happy to proceed with merging this. I'm not sure that this should really be categorized as a bug, given that it wholly involves providing and affordance/compatibility for a different contrib module, but the categorization isn't too important here.
