The jsonapi module is included in the Acquia DevDesktop v2 Jan 2018 build of lightning-8.x-2.2. I enabled it along with a number of other modules and ran update.php and it caused a fatal irrecoverable error:
Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/Users/Sites/devdesktop/lightning-8.x-2.26/modules/contrib/jsonapi/src/Normalizer/ScalarNormalizer.php' (include_path='.:/Applications/DevDesktop/common/pear:/usr/lib/php') in /Users/Sites/devdesktop/lightning-8.x-2.26/vendor/symfony/class-loader/ApcClassLoader.php on line 110

e0ipsoPlease refer to Acquia Lightning customer support, they'll know more about this. From what you post I don't know versions of installed things or if it's caused by any other interactions.

balsamaHi. JSON API should be enabled out of the box when you install Lightning. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you installed it/ran updates. Was this an existing site that you updated? Can you try it with the most recent version (3.0.1 - which should be available in that UI within the hour - or you can grab it from here: https://github.com/acquia/lightning/releases/download/3.0.1/lightning-8....)?

Wim LeersI'm sure this has long since been resolved — JSON:API has had many releases over the past year, and Lightning API has moved on from JSON:API 1.x to 2.x.
