rjacobs commentedAre you referring to the 8.x-1.x version of Media? If so, yes, some support for that will be needed for general feature parity with Juicebox 7.x-2.x. No effort has gone into this yet however because the specifics of Media 8.x-1.x have been unsettled (it looks like there is still no tagged release). Assistance from anyone familiar with the status of that project would definitely be appreciated.

redeight commentedI think at this point we should probably go for supporting the core media system now that its fully in core.

fkelly12054@gmail.com commentedI would prefer that the new maintainers for this project make the current Juicebox function with Drupal 9 reliably and with a stable release first. THEN maybe take a look at integration with media.
From my experiments with media, even though media in core was supposedly stable and integrated into Core as of December 2019, there are many outstanding issues including any kind of bulk uploading of files.
I use a FTP and file comparison program (Beyond Compare) to upload Juicebox galleries that have been prepared on a PC. For each gallery there is an images directory (jpg files), a thumbnails directory and a single XML file that the Juicebox Javascript program uses to "drive" gallery presentation. I don't need the media module for any of this. I'm perfectly happy preparing the galleries on the PC and basically uploading completed ones to Drupal. Let Drupal do what it can do well and let the PC (or Mac) do what it can do.
Someday media integration could be cool to have but getting Juicebox working at all on Drupal 9 would seem to be required first.
My 2 cents, Thanks for listening.

D4K0 commentedSupport of media module was incorporated into 8.x-3.x branch and introduced in 8.x-3.0-alpha1 version.
I'm not sure it covers all possible media field usecases. At least it works with media module image fields for me.
