The selected file C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs\drupal-5.1\files could not be copied. I get this message when I try to upload images (create an image content) and it seems to me that files folder is read only and I checked it and it is so however I tried to change that but it won't work. What do I need to do?

In the first place; a support request is NEVER critical. If you don't know how to use your webspace, an FTP client or whatever (server-side) related to your website, don't setup a website at all and first buy a book or try investigating about it on the internet. But in Gods sake, not here pls...

Please use the forum for support requests about such a simple thing next time.
CHMOD you files directory to 755, and next time RTFM!

Well sorry about that Stefan and just to let you know I know how to set up a website and I'm very sorry for irritating you but I said it was critical cause I need the answer asap. Here is what I didn't specify before, I'm on my local machine (but I have to get this done by tonight since I'm planning to upload my website) and it's on Windows and I really don't think there is CHMOD, (excuse me if I got this wrong too). I tried to use Dreamweaver to change the file permission before I posted and nothing happened. (right click on the folder and select remove ready-only mode).

I'm really sorry for all the unnecessary/improper use of the site, honestly speaking I'm new to Drupal and so please bear with me.

yeah you can't really use chmod on windows. i'd suggest checking your files settings and the image modules settings. try re-saving the paths.

Thanks drewish but i still have the problem. I went to Administer > Site configuration > File System and reset everything to default and I went to the image part as well but it's still not working. What next? I have even went on my hard drive and I've tried to remove the read only option but I just keeps turning on. I think I have a problem with my computer. Cause I've tried the image module before and it has worked properly. I'm running out of things to do so if you have another Idea please don't hesitate to tell me.

if you can't change the readonly status there's not much i can tell you. you'll need to do some tinkering to figure out how to change that. try logging in as an admin user.

Thanks drew yes I'm the admin but I try to figure out somethings by tomorrow but for today I've had enough it's 8:00 PM and I'm still at work. Thanks a lot man.

Well it turns out that the image module version I installed had some issues (image-5.x-1.x.dev) and changing it to image-5.x-1.0. did the trick so thanks for you help guys.
