I think it would be essential to have a main features list on the project page. What exactly does this module do that Internationalization module doesn't? What does it add? There is absolutely no information about that at the moment...

saltednutWhat's probably most aggravating is that the 'Documentation' link just goes to the i18n docs with no mention of this module.
miro_dietikerI guess someone should start writing right that document and tell one of the maintainers to update the doc link.
Meanwhile the link to i18n itself is a good start.
saltednutI'd argue the link to i18n is confusing and not a good start. You should remove it as thats the docs for i18n and not i18nviews

Encarte CreditAttribution: Encarte commentedOk, although I agree comments about documentation are indeed pertinent, there is an actual issue about that already: #979892: Improve documentation
Meanwhile this particular issue meant to call some attention to something even more basic than the readme.txt or d.o documentation: the main page of the project. While we don't have documentation, at least add a line or two stating what this module will do. It can't take more than 60 seconds...

dafederYes, strongly agree that the link to i18n docs is more confusing than helpful. i18n documentation really gives you no help as to how to use this module, but the link there suggests that clicking around you will find something about the Internationalization Views Module. The key piece of information to relay to people is how to find the translate view link. (I also feel that this module is at a state beyond "basic port" and that those words discourage use.)
"Note that we rely on the latest Views 7.x-3.x-dev version, not the alpha or rc" is also no longer relevant.
Proposed text change for project page:
Drupal 7
Quality review and finalizing for the Drupal 7 version are still in progress, but basic functionality is in place. Your feedback appreciated. The work was primarily done by Miro Dietiker of MD Systems and dereine of Erdfisch.
Translate strings in views by opening the menu in the header section of the view edit page just below the list of displays (usually the menu option "edit view name/description" is visible). Chose the "translate view" link to open an translation interface similar to the node or taxonomy translation interfaces.

dafederShould not have changed the status without a patch.

genebobmiller CreditAttribution: genebobmiller commentedPost #6 was instantly useful to me and would have saved about an hour of research had it been on the front page :) I also agree that the documentation link is currently unhelpful and misleading.
dafederTitle still doesn't describe the issue, and this is not a feature request.
dafederI'm going work on basic documentation as described here as well as the issue in #1335526: Cannot translate Menu item entry title
