Once #2595885: Add support for events. lands we'll be able to use events rather than the implicit style hooks described on the module page. From speaking with the community events seem to be the consensus, unless anyone objects i'm going to remove the implicit hook implementation here.

Then this module becomes useless. Events are the pit and they should be removed in D9.
