i'll take a look... If there's a big demand for a back port, i'll look at branching it.

Before I found this issue, I did a back port, along with a separate module that allows Highcharts to be embedded into nodes using an input filter. I'd be willing to co-maintain it, if the original maintainers are open to that. The strategy I used is a bit different than hibersh's, but I think they compliment one another, so I'd be open to combining them into one module, if that makes sense.

There is a D6 branch on the sandbox referenced in #1507800: Views-independent Highcharts API.

@stovak: if you agree on my proposal there, we can keep this issue open just as a marker to actually release a D6 branch. I would be happy to help maintain that.
