I've been using the 7.x-2.x version of hex for the past couple of days and everything has been working great! I was wondering if you had any plans to also upgrade the RegionFx (and AccessibleTabs/AccessibleAccordion) plugins that were included with the 6.x version of hex. I'd be happy to help in the upgrade process and/or with testing.

Thanks!
Candice

Definitely! But first, I want to see if jQuery UI in core would be a better replacement. I could possibly do something quick by copying what’s already there but using what Drupal core provides might be a better idea. What do you think?

I’m going to try to spend the Friday writing upgrade notes. If the theme gives off a notice, please let me know. I have to be sure everything works all the time. Afterwards, I can strip all the validation code if it’s hurting performance.

Awesome! I haven't seen any notices yet, but I'll open a ticket if any come up.

If we can utilize JQuery UI in core, that would be awesome, but I'm happy with whatever works for RegionFx. Accessible Tabs and Accessible Accordions have both been *super* useful, so I'd love to be able to use them in 7 as well.

Let us know if you need anything else on this!

Also, jgraham and I were discussing the possibility of a "Hex extras" project that could contain some of Hexagon's "extra" plugins that aren't necessarily required for core functionality. E.g. the region effects plugins and the color module compatibility plugin (which Jeff just upgraded to 7.x). On the one hand, this would keep hex core very lean, but would also add an extra step for end users wanting to use these plugins. Thoughts?

I like the idea. What if the separate project was an experimental theme. Try out new stuff; a place to incubate new idea. Plug-ins that are successful can be pushed back to the base theme. And maybe have another theme for legacy plug-ins. That way there’s a cycle to keep things moving and prevent it from going stale.
