Hi,

I just saw this popup on the drupalmodules twitter feed. I've implemented something similar to this for drupal 6 over in my sandbox - http://drupal.org/sandbox/digital/1095304

Would you be interested in creating a full project and two versions one for 6 and one for 7? Either way I'd be interested in your feedback on my version.

Cool - the code looks very similar (Great minds think alike? ;-) )

Since I applied for full project status, why don't we wait to see if it's granted (I haven't added any projects to D.o before). Once that's completed you or I could munge up your code together with mine as a D6 back-port.

What do you think?

That's fine with me, I've been through the full application process and it's a royal pita so good luck.

Let me know when you want to merge and I'll take another look at the code and see if it can be approved.

Are you at drupalcon London by any chance?

Thanks, yeah. Hopefully the process won't take too long.

No, not in London, sadly. I was at Drupalcon Chicago but London would have been a luxury I just couldn't afford :-(

Any progress on this? I love this module for D7, would really like to see it on D6.

Hi jmarkel & digital006,

I'm also wondering if there are any plans to merge these projects so gdoc can be used in Drupal 6. I have a 6 site that is currently using Scribd field but a few months ago, Scribd suddenly started moving older files into an "archive" and then charging for "archive access". This is a very underhanded way to monetize files they don't own and would love to find an alternative. I used this module on a 7 site recently and love it.

I would volunteer to help but I am really not a coder.

TBH, if I were inclined to do this, it would have been done 18 months ago. I'm focused on D8 now (as well as incorporating some user-submitted changes for D7). As it is, Drupal 6 will be at end-of-life pretty soon, so I'd suggest you just go ahead and use digital006's sandbox project code.

Thanks for the reply, jmarkel. Yes... you are right.
