If you look at the Gallery Formatter thumbs on this page (or take a look at the screenshot) in Safari (or on an iPad), you'll notice that they are but 2px wide. There's an inline style that sets this width indeed (style="width: 2px"). This code automatically generated by the module (or its javascript).

This works fine in other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome (which uses the WebKit engine as Safari does).

I'm using the Responsive Gallery theme for the Gallery Formatter.

I've already tried the most recent patch in this thread, to no avail: #1992304: infiniteCarousel.js gets loaded before jQuery in some themes
