Hey Shiny ;-)
I've been freebasing a lot.
First by supporting Freebase as a source for taxonomy_xml (eg, import all "Music Genres" from Freebase as a Drupal vocabulary)
Then by updating "Freebase Suggest" js to the current API.
and also (which is much fun) importing whole Freebase Schemas (eg "What fields and properties define a 'book') as a Drupal Content type!
http://drupalcode.org/viewvc/drupal/contributions/sandbox/dman/cck_impor...
- this provides a wizard-like module that allows us to type (with auto-suggest) a noun type (Person, place, vehicle) and generate a CCK definition full of fields (eg, make, model, manufacturer, weight, date of issue, etc) based on what freebase knows about types of things.
We need to get together.
(I need to release my backroom ideas more often)

Shiny commentedThere another freebase jquery module already on Drupal.org -- all client side though. I wanted something that i can run cron over my dataset.
The taxonomy is a great direction to take it in - i think the possibilities are too big for the amount of spare time i have (and i don't have a paying client for it, yet) -- dman do you want to write up that module? either as your own sub module or i give you commit to this module.
Dman - come to a Saturday hackfest at the Cross some weekend, and we can brainstorm.

harry slaughteralso very interested in freebase integration with drupal. the uses are endless.
i'm currently looking at freebase as a source for taxonomy for a site. absolutely no sense in trying to develop a taxonomy in fields where one is already defined and proven (like scientific fields for example).
it would also be invaluable for filling out pages with info related to the topic contained in the drupal node.

dman commentedTaxonomy_xml - dev currently can do that for you, I've put a sample of how to import the taxonomy of 'music genres' from freebase. So far, it also works for location hierarchies and a few others I've tried.
I'm putting together a taxonomy server that should be able to import useful sources directly into Drupal, via RDF - probably RDF/SKOS, (unlike Freebase arbitrary relationships - which I only have Identified a half dozen so far)
For actual info : content nodes, I'd be looking towards feed_api import of some sort. I can see it happening, but don't have a case to work on for it at the moment - though I've talked with folk wanting it.
