I'm not sure if I searched correct about this issue but I couldn't seem to find any answers.

The problem I'm having is that if the forum is set to private, then it really is private and can't be seen.

I am using views to show the last 5 forum postings. But in that list the subject of the forum posting in a private forum (only accessible for particular user roles) is shown, the forum name itself is not shown in the list.

Thanks in advance.

PLEASE STOP THIS!

You have now posted the same thing in three different threads (here and
#1346886: Views Module using Advanced Forum
#1287360: Viewing-permission problem in forum's Active Topics -page
) and in the end you've called it off by editing one of your comments in a closed thread:

edit: I think there is a conflict with LoginTobogan and Content access.. i removed both and all is well.

If you must make a mess all over the place, then at least clean up after yourself, please. Better yet, don't waste the maintainer's time and stick to one thread. If you find other threads that might be relevant, then add pointers to them in your one thread.

You may have a point worth investigating: Why would Content Access cause Views to show titles, even though the nodes are inaccessibles?

Please reopen this thread (and only this thread), if you're willing to put some effort into this.

First I thought I have made a mistake and posted my request in the wrong Project page (I found my support request in Advanced Forum issues page). So that's when I decided to request support in the correct Project Page, meanwhile not knowing that Michelle was able to transfer back my support request (which you from what I understand transferred to AF in the first place) .. Anyway, I am not here to make a mess .. All I am looking for is answers which could lead to solve my problem. I need both modules working, Content Access and Forum Access .. at this moment they do not seem to work well together (perhaps you should change the introduction text which states that it does work well with Content Access) ..

How can I be of help to resolve this issue?

The threads

#1346886: Views Module using Advanced Forum
#1287360: Viewing-permission problem in forum's Active Topics -page
#1436254: private forum shown in list build with views by users that are not allowed

are three Forum Access threads. You added comments to each one with virtually identical content. I temporarily moved the first thread to the Advanced Forum queue (as you can clearly see from my comment). What's the point of posting at all, if you don't look at the replies?

Fact is, you requested my (and everyone else's) attention three times and you gave half of an all-clear and left the other threads pending.

Now to the factual issue:
You should restrict CA to those content types where you need it. This the easiest (and obvious) way to get the two modules to work together, unless you need to use CA for forum topics (concurring with Forum Access).

@blogook: Please don't edit your comments after posting. This confuses the thread.

How can I be of help to resolve this issue?

Thank you for offering to help.

This would help us to gain some insight:
1. Confirm that the regular user can see the node title in the view but gets an 'access denied' when trying to look at the node itself.
2. Install Devel Node Access (from Devel), enable it's debug mode and its second block.
3. Use an administrator account to look at a node that should be private and post a screenshot of the two blocks.

I have this problem. Posts from my one hidden forum are listed under 'Active topics', 'Unanswered topics' and 'New & updated topics'. I have several non-hidden forums.

CA tells me there might be module interference from:
apachesolr_access
content_access
view_unpublished

What other information should I provide you to inch toward a solution?

Please open a new issue and follow the instructions that you get in the process.

Thanks.

I had to change the priority of the Forum Access and Content Access modules in their gui's, then all was fine.

I'm glad this worked for you, dillon. Thanks for letting us know.

Unfortunately, this feature has been removed for D8...
