I have tried to add a custom icon font through the Custom Fonts tab (made available by the local fonts submodule). When I add or edit the font I choose the font file (woff file, as instructed), and save. When I return to look at the font, the font file is never shown as being chosen/saved permanently.

I have tried this with several different font files. Is there something I am missing?
I had this issue with 8.x-3.0 and just updated to 8.x-3.1 and I'm still seeing the same issue.

Any ideas?

Hmm, I'm trying to figure out if this is more of a UX issue or if there is something else going on. The custom fonts 'section' (page) only shows which custom fonts you have set up. Note that these are not fonts that are necessarily enabled. So you need to go to the 'browse' section to actually enable a font (you should find your font there if you filter down the font provider to 'Custom Fonts'.

If that is the case, I'd be very open to suggestions on how the UX might be improved to make this clearer (I returned back to this functionality after months and I personally got confused because I kept clicking on 'Font Display' after I had uploaded my font and wondering why it is not showing up there so there is clearly room for improvement :)). If not, then if you can outline the steps you took so I can mimic the behavior would be very helpful.

Oh I was not aware I also had to enable it. Okay, that does make sense. And it works!! Thank you sooo much.

Is it possible to just have text above or below the save button that says "After saving your font, you can enable it under the Browse tab"?

I am still not sure why it shows that there isn't a file loaded if you edit it later, but if they know to enable it they probably will see it working and not worry about it. :)

Part of it is the design in how the file gets stored in the backend. But I wholly agree there could be better feedback from the Custom Fonts module. Since we have an idea of what happened, I'm going to revise the issue and keep it open so this can be better addressed.

Thanks for pointing this out, btw. Like I said, I'm coming back to this module after a while and considering we both got stuck in the same spot (where do I go after uploading a font?), there is merit.

On the custom fonts page, I added 2 new columns. One to view the font and one to enable/disable the font. It does the same functions as the fonts view page but I figure this is a nice place to do the same things and, I think at least, makes things clearer. Please give the new dev release a try and let me know if the experience is better.
