I'd like to see custom SVG icons/bundles appear along side the fontawesome set. Would that best be handled by enhancing this module or the Icon API module?

I believe this support is possible via fontawesome_iconpicker (had to be implemented). Then a hook can be exposed where those who expose their custom icons can respond to it.
