I checked the "Extend" page to see the version of Field Group in order to post an issue (not this one), but it wasn't showing. I then checked the field_group.info.yml and didn't see a version listed there. Consequently, I have no idea which version I'm running - and the module doesn't show on the "Available updates" page either.

Did you checkout the module manually? It's drupal.org that adds the version info:

It was a colleague of mine who installed this module, and it was definitely more than 4 days ago, so perhaps he had to get it from GIT at that time.
