Dependencies not being auto-detected

Let me start by saying that this issue is specific to our site, so it's obviously something we did wrong, and thus is not a problem with Features.

When going to the Create Feature page, I select a content type. The box to "Add auto-detected dependencies" is checked, but nothing happens. I click on "Refresh" and still nothing happens. There are no PHP errors in the log, nor are there any JS errors in Chrome's console.

If there is someone who has seen this behaviour before and could point me in the right direction to fixing it, I'd really appreciate it!
