If you hit Ctrl + Left-Click on the canvas, it triggers the browser context menu and activates the zoom cursor. This prevents further interaction with the canvas (Left Click does nothing, Right Click activates the browser context menu instead of the XB one, you can't select or move existing components or place new ones, etc.). You have to refresh the page to get "un-stuck". (I would post a screenshot, but it doesn't really add anything, so I'm omitting it.)
