This was +1'd by @lauriii and @wim.leers and @effulgentsia among others.

By making Media Library a dependency, we can direct our full attention towards getting the Media Library widget working perfectly without having to also deal with the image widget (which only offers functionality also present in the ML widget)

Given that Media Library provides what is considered by most a better experience, this should hopefully be seen as reasonable.

If it is later decided that both image widget and ML support is needed, nothing here would prevent that from happening in the future.
