create a view that gets all descendents of an entity (cascading)

i have a content type that can reference other entities of that same content type
so what i get is a cascading
i want to create a view to get all children and the children of these and so on (descendents) of an entity
is this possible?

i tried adding relationship and add fields with that relationship, but that always only goes ONE level deeper.
is there another way to get this working?
