When the options module is disabled, these errors appear:

Notice: Undefined index: label in field_ui_widget_type_options() (line 1438 of modules/field_ui/field_ui.admin.inc).

Since the options module is not a hard-dependency, I think it's sensible to check if the module is available before providing the addition field widget options.
