Can we compile with grunt rather than compass?

Can we make the sass grunt / gulp compatible?

In my distribution environment I have a few issues. One is that I don't have compass installed. Two is that sass 3.4.21 isn't compatible with the sass being used so even if I got permission and requests compass it still wouldn't work. It would be easier to use Grunt as the compiling mechanism to compile the sass.
