webchickNot sure exactly where this goes (most likely a new issue), but migrating these fields has introduced a regression where you can no longer get listings of all the people who share that value, because these are now output as text rather than a link.
For some fields like "Interests" that's more in the "aw, bummer" category, but for others like "Gender" and "Country" it's actually incredibly valuable to be able to pull up a list of people with those attributes for statistics tracking and other purposes.

joshuami@webchick, I think it is okay that we introduced this functional regression as the profile-generated interests pages were not performing well since the Drupal 7 upgrade. Country was a little better, but not fast. So we fixed a performance regression with a functional one. :)
That said, we do intend to create alternate views for some of that data and make it easier to pull anonymized aggregate stats. Let's get everything moved to user fields and then evaluate our reporting needs from there.

drummOnly full name is left now. The purpose of #2274717: Optionally offer a display name instead of "first last (user)" on user pages? changed a bit, so no longer using that to consider for migration. The old profile field is present, but hidden.
Since the counts were updated, First/last have been catching up:
Full: 1,098,512
First: 418,981
Last: 418,980
And closer for users with the "not a spammer" role, we do not show user profiles unless someone has this role:
Full: 86,707
First: 27,810
Last: 27,810
Currently, I'm making sure we stop using full name in places like https://assoc.drupal.org/membership/individuals. We have the name well-split in CiviCRM, so can migrate the data from there; assuming there is a similar full name, I won't be making names we only have internally public.
Then we can look at potentially migrating what we can from full name.

klausiRegression: now you cannot edit your drupal contributions any more, see #2388383: User Profile Drupal contributions are not updated after editing.
drummAny Drupal.org admins watching this: you should now ignore the "Drupal" and "Personal Information" local tasks if you can see them. Those hidden fields will be deleted as this issue is closed. The new fields are in Vertical tabs on the main user edit form.

drummI think we've done all the name migration we can practically do right now.
