Release notes

This release contains 8.3.x backports of security fixes from the recent core security advisory:

No changes have been made to the .htaccess, web.config, robots.txt or default settings.php files in this release, so upgrading custom versions of those files is not necessary. However, this release flags the node access system for rebuild in order to update certain records for certain configurations. If a site includes a contributed or custom access control module and has multilingual functionality, administrators may see a prompt to rebuild node access. (Node access can be rebuilt either via the administration interface, or using the drush command line tool. Be aware that this can take some time, but is necessary to ensure correct node access grants for all scenarios.)

This release also includes a temporary fix to allow the update status report to support that 8.3.8 contains equivalent security fixes to 8.4.5 and 8.5.0-rc1. Generally, past minor releases are not supported and do not receive security coverage. This release is provided for an interim security fix only until site owners have completed their upgrades to 8.5.x. 8.3.x and 8.4.x are no longer supported, so sites should prepare to update their sites to Drupal 8.5.0.
