The format_username() function should expect a full user account object, not a half-assed object loaded from five fields in the database. This messes up modules like Realname which pass on the user object to the token system, which also expects a full user object.

I think this is going to be a 7.x only change because Views is in core now and I believe this page will be replaced by views.
