Problem/Motivation

This issue is to coordinate all the steps in order to discuss and potentially fix "Url" in sentences (which may in some cases refer to a Drupal\Core\Url object).

Steps to reproduce

Proposed resolution

List uses in core with sentences using "Url" in a sentence (without its namespace) to "URL".

For docblocks:

grep -r " Url" * | grep "\* " | grep -v "vendor" | grep -v "node_modules"

For inline comments

grep -r " Url" * | grep "// " | grep -v "vendor" | grep -v "node_modules"

I think the scope needs a little refinement here -- the goal is not to change the ones that are not related to URL objects. The goal is to decide whether vague, un-namespaced references to Url in docs should use the English word instead of the class name. So I don't think the regex is quite right; it should be checking for a * or // literal on the same line

Version: 10.1.x-dev » 11.x-dev

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main. New developments and disruptive changes should now be targeted for the 11.x branch, which currently accepts only minor-version allowed changes. For more information, see the Drupal core minor version schedule and the Allowed changes during the Drupal core release cycle.
